Judy Batson, President CartWorks Corporation
Judy has over 20 years experience in retail and specialty leasing as a retail store owner/operator, a manager of specialty leasing programs, and Director of Business Developement for an independent specialty leasing management company.
Judy started CartWorks Corporation in April 1997. Her goal was to provide the shopping center industry with a dramatically different type of quality specialty leasing program management focusing on customer service for both the mall developers and cart merchants.
For the 4 years prior to starting CartWorks she was with a specialty leasing outsourcing organization. She started with this company as Director of East Coast Operations. She oversaw operations for the Eastern half of the country which meant that seven Regional Directors reported directly to her, who in turn had 26 Area Managers reporting to them. As head of East Coast Operations, she had broad exposure to nearly every facet of operating a specialty program in environments from malls, to office buildings, to outlet centers.
In the spring of 1996 Judy assumed the role of Director of Business Development, where she was solely responsible for generating new business for the company. She added numerous malls to the company’s portfolio, and successfully opened Canada as an entirely new market, with 8 initial centers.
Prior to this, Ms. Batson worked for three years as a Specialty Leasing Manager with New England Development. She ran two cart programs totaling 40 carts. This provided her the knowledge of how to run two successful cart programs simultaneously.
Ms. Batson started her career by owning and operating her own retail store. She started the store, including all aspects of site selection, lease negotiation, and store layout. She ran the business and was able to successfully sell it after two years of operation.
Judy earned a BS in Business Administration from Regis College, Denver, Colorado
